Moores Furniture Group, with a history dating back to 1947, specialized in supplying kitchens to both housebuilders and homeowners across the UK for nearly eight decades. The company’s management attributes the collapse to escalating costs, a slowdown in housebuilding activities, and challenging market conditions.
Administrators have announced that 336 staff members will be retained temporarily to fulfill existing orders, but their long-term prospects remain uncertain. Certain assets of the business, such as the customer database and intellectual property, have been acquired by competitor Wren Kitchens. The acquiring company expressed hopes that this acquisition could lead to new opportunities for the impacted employees.
Employees who were made redundant are being provided assistance to claim their redundancy payments and benefits. Wren Kitchens, in a statement, expressed regret over Moores Furniture Group’s closure but sees potential for creating opportunities for affected staff members elsewhere in the UK. Another construction firm, Caldwell Construction Limited, established in 2007, has also entered administration this week.
