“Malevolent Couple Brutally Murdered Housemates with Meat Cleavers”

Date:

A malevolent couple brutally murdered and dismembered their housemates using meat cleavers in a shocking incident.

Jeffrey Mackey, Alexis Nieves, and their partner Steven Brown were convicted and imprisoned for the fatal assault on Malcom Brown, 53, and Donna Conneely, 59, in 2024. The victims were viciously attacked upon entering their residence on February 27, 2024, in Amityville, New York. Prosecutors alleged that Nieves struck Conneely with a meat tenderizer before stabbing her, while Mackey proceeded to stab Malcolm multiple times. The gruesome incident came to light after a student discovered a severed limb in a park just two days later.

Authorities found additional human remains, including a female head, torso, arm, and parts of legs, in Babylon Village. Further remains were located at two other locations on March 5, 2024, leading to the identification of Malcolm and Donna as the victims. Investigators uncovered two meat cleavers and a large kitchen knife at the couple’s residence, where they lived with the victims and their accomplices.

According to Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney, the defendants dismembered the victims’ bodies in the home’s bathroom. Steven and Wallace assisted in the dismemberment and disposal process, as per a police statement.

Mackey, 40, Nieves, 35, and Brown, who was Malcolm’s cousin, pleaded guilty to their charges in April 2024. Mackey and Nieves received reduced sentences due to claims of abuse by the victims, as reported by People.

During the trial, Mackey expressed regret, stating, “I deeply regret the events that transpired. I wish the victims were still alive and that I had never crossed paths with them. My apologies go out to their families for this tragic occurrence.”

On Tuesday, Mackey pleaded guilty to second-degree murder charges and received a 22-year sentence. Nieves was sentenced to 11 years in prison, while Brown received a five-year sentence for conspiracy involvement. Wallace pleaded guilty to concealing a human corpse and was sentenced to up to two years in prison last November.

In response to the sentences, Malcolm’s family criticized the leniency, calling it a “mere slap on the wrist.” They expressed disappointment, questioning why Brown received only a five-year sentence for such heinous crimes.
