Woman’s Body Found at UK Beauty Spot

Date:

A body of a woman was found in the sea at a popular beauty spot in the UK.

Authorities from Devon and Cornwall Police were alerted to the discovery at Berry Head in Brixham, Devon, around 1:30 pm yesterday. Despite the emergency response, the woman in her 50s was declared deceased upon their arrival.

A coastguard rescue helicopter was seen in the vicinity on the same day. The woman, a local resident, has had her family notified. Police confirmed that her death is not considered suspicious at this point, and a report will be compiled for HM Coroner, as per DevonLive.

According to a spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police, they received a call on January 5 at 1:30 pm following the discovery of the woman’s body off Berry Head, Brixham. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the woman from the local area, aged in her 50s, was pronounced dead. Her relatives have been informed, and the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

Berry Head, situated as the southern boundary of Tor Bay, is a coastal headland located east of Brixham and designated as a national nature reserve.

This incident follows a large-scale search operation under challenging conditions on January 2, where multiple individuals faced difficulties at Withernsea. The Coastguard, along with the RNLI, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, and Humberside Police, conducted the search.

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard confirmed response to reports of individuals in distress in the water at Withernsea on January 2. Resources deployed included search and rescue helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, and rescue teams from various locations.

The RNLI’s lifeboats from Withernsea and Bridlington, Hornsea Inshore Rescue, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, air ambulances, Humberside Police, and Humberside Fire and Rescue were all involved in the operation.

In a Facebook post, Hornsea Inshore Rescue described facing challenging conditions with high waves preventing the launching of a lifeboat.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service confirmed their presence on-site, along with air ambulances, tactical commanders, mountain rescue teams, and Humberside Fire and Rescue.
