“Video Analysis Contradicts White House Narrative in ICE Shooting”

Date:

A recent examination of the ICE agent’s Minnesota shooting video conducted by the Mirror has unveiled significant details regarding Renee Good’s shooting, which contradicts the narrative put forth by the White House.

The footage from the Minnesota shooting, which surfaced last night, captures the final moments of Renee Good’s life as seen from the shooter’s perspective. This video directly challenges assertions made by Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, alleging that the mother of three was intentionally steering her vehicle towards the ICE agent who ultimately shot her in self-defense. A meticulous frame-by-frame analysis of the video, released by the right-leaning local outlet Alpha News, clearly indicates that Ms. Good was maneuvering away from the agent who fired the fatal shots. The analysis also reveals that the shooter adjusted his grip on his phone, used for filming, allowing him to draw his weapon ten seconds later.

The video commences with the ICE agent exiting his vehicle and approaching Renee Good’s maroon Honda Pilot. As he walks around the front of her car, she is observed steering to the left and slightly reversing. Good is heard saying, “That’s fine, dude. I’m not mad at you.”

Subsequently, the agent proceeds to circle the vehicle, capturing her license plate with his phone camera for documentation. During this time, a woman believed to be Good’s wife engages in conversation with him. The agent then shifts his phone to his left hand, enabling him to continue recording while keeping his right hand free to draw his gun.

Prior to walking around the front of Good’s vehicle, the agent draws his weapon a full ten seconds before the actual shooting takes place. Meanwhile, additional ICE agents arrive on the scene, instructing Good to exit the car, as the shooter positions himself in front of her vehicle. Following a slight reverse maneuver, Good is seen turning her steering wheel sharply to the right, with her wheels following suit. As the car begins to move, the shooter draws his gun, pointedly still filming with his phone. He fires a shot through the windshield, followed by two more shots through the open side window as the vehicle speeds away, accompanied by derogatory remarks directed at Good.

Despite claims from JD Vance and Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin that the new video supports the assertion that the officer acted in self-defense, the footage fails to corroborate this narrative. Minnesota Mayor Jacob Frey dismisses any self-defense argument as baseless.

Law enforcement experts maintain that the video does not alter their perspective on the use of force but raises concerns regarding the officer’s training. Geoff Alpert, a criminology professor at the University of South Carolina, emphasizes the need to scrutinize the officer’s training that permits him to hold a gun in one hand and a cellphone in the other while filming. John P. Gross, a professor at the University of Wisconsin Law School specializing in officers shooting at moving vehicles, notes that the officers did not perceive Good as a threat based on the video evidence.

Gross asserts that an officer perceiving a woman as a threat would not be casually filming with one hand on a cellphone while purportedly facing a weapon.
