The storm, forecasted to commence on Friday and persist through the weekend, is projected to bring heavy snow, freezing rain, and sleet, with a moisture-laden atmospheric river likely to impact several states along the Gulf Coast and the East Coast.
Weather service forecasters predict snow accumulation of a foot or more in major cities along the I-95 corridor from Washington, D.C., to Boston. The forecast warns of a significant risk to life and property due to the combination of heavy snow, ice, and prolonged cold temperatures, especially in the Washington, D.C. region.
