“Russia Threatens British Troops in Ukraine Amid Rising Tensions”

Date:

Russia has dismissed a peace agreement in Ukraine and labeled British soldiers as “legitimate military targets” in a new alarming threat amid concerns of a potential major air strike on Kyiv.

In response to a recent proposal by the US and Europe to offer security assurances to Ukraine upon reaching a ceasefire, the Kremlin criticized the move as “foreign interference,” asserting that it would directly endanger Russian security.

This development follows the signing of a new plan by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron to establish military hubs in Ukraine in case of an agreement to safeguard the nation from further invasion.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Britain and its allies of planning to perpetuate the militarization of Ukraine, cautioning that Western military units, facilities, and infrastructure in Ukraine would become legitimate targets for Russian forces.

Zakharova emphasized that the deployment of foreign military units and infrastructure in Ukraine would be viewed as a direct threat to Russia and other European nations, labeling them as legitimate military targets for the Russian Armed Forces.

She further condemned the coalition of 35 nations that signed the January 6 agreement, branding them as an “axis of war” whose actions would be detrimental to the future of Europe and its inhabitants, who would bear the financial burden of such ambitions.

Zakharova stressed that any resolution to the conflict in Ukraine must include the country adopting a neutral stance, relinquishing aspirations for NATO membership, and surrendering occupied territories. Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Kyiv issued a warning to its citizens regarding potential aerial attacks on the Ukrainian capital.

The Embassy’s website cautioned that there is intelligence indicating a significant air attack may occur in the coming days, advising US citizens to be prepared to seek shelter immediately upon hearing air raid sirens.
