Amazon is introducing a new streaming device to its lineup, featuring enhancements that surpass current models. The Fire TV Stick HD, the company’s latest budget-friendly gadget, will be priced at £39.99 upon its release later this month. Despite its lower price point, it offers significant improvements, notably a slimmer and more stylish design compared to its predecessor.
The new Fire TV Stick HD is now 30% narrower, making it easier to fit behind TVs and more portable for users on the go. An added benefit of this device is that it can draw power directly from the TV’s USB port, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter.
According to Amazon, “The new Fire TV Stick HD is our slimmest streaming device – smaller in volume and width than previous models – and optimized for Direct Power through the TV’s USB port, allowing for a neater installation behind a TV.”
Similar to other Fire TV Sticks, it provides instant access to popular streaming services like Disney+, Apple TV, Prime Video, iPlayer, ITVX, and Netflix. Additionally, it comes with a convenient remote featuring Alexa voice search and quick-launch buttons for apps.
While it doesn’t support 4K resolution, the Fire TV Stick HD offers full HD viewing, which should suffice for most households.
Amazon touts that the new Fire TV Stick HD offers noticeable speed enhancements compared to previous HD models, with over 30% faster performance on average. This results in quicker startup times and faster app loading.
The device comes equipped with the latest Fire operating system, delivering a cleaner user experience, improved recommendations, and a streamlined process for finding content to watch.
Scheduled for release on April 29th, the Fire TV Stick HD will be priced at £39.99.
