“UK Summons Iranian Ambassador Over Crackdown”

Date:

Iran’s envoy to the UK has been called to the Foreign Office to address the violent crackdown on protests across the nation. Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper expressed concerns about the reported deaths and brutality of Iran’s response, highlighting the challenges posed by the ongoing internet blackout in the country.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump encouraged Iranian demonstrators to persist in their protests, emphasizing the importance of holding those responsible for violence and abuse accountable. In response to the situation, the UK Foreign Office summoned the Iranian ambassador, Seyed Ali Mousavi, to discuss the government’s actions.

During a session in the House of Commons, Ms. Cooper condemned the killings and violence in Iran, emphasizing the need for accountability. She announced plans for imposing comprehensive sanctions on Iran targeting various key sectors like finance, energy, and transportation.

Ms. Cooper dismissed Iran’s claims of foreign influence inciting the protests as false propaganda aimed at discrediting the genuine grassroots movement within Iranian society. She emphasized the global community’s commitment to challenging the Iranian regime’s repression and false narratives, underscoring the importance of protecting the interests of the UK and other nations.
