Renowned boxer Tyson Fury has disclosed his desired opponents as he gears up for his comeback to the boxing ring this year, with a face-off against Anthony Joshua topping his hit list.
Having previously announced his retirement in January after consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk, Fury has made a U-turn and is now intensifying his training regime. The British boxer is currently honing his skills in Thailand in preparation for upcoming fights.
Training alongside WBC bridgerweight champion Kevin Lerena, Fury, aged 37, has been vocal about his potential rivals, particularly expressing interest in rematching Usyk. Additionally, he is eyeing bouts with compatriots Joshua and Fabio Wardley. Fury recently shared a compelling image on his official Instagram account, hinting at potential showdowns with the three heavyweight contenders.
In a surprising turn, Fury has hinted at a possible clash with Wardley after a social media post suggesting a future fight. Wardley’s remarkable victory over Joseph Parker last year elevated him to the WBO interim title, later upgraded to full champion status after Usyk relinquished the title.
While a third fight with Usyk seems unlikely due to the Ukrainian’s camp considering their rivalry concluded, fans remain eager for a British showdown between Fury and Joshua. However, uncertainties loom over Joshua’s future following a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two close friends.
Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, has indicated that a Fury-Joshua bout might not materialize until late 2026, if at all. Warren expressed uncertainty about the fighters’ future plans in light of recent events, emphasizing the mental toll the tragedy may have on Joshua’s readiness for boxing.
