A 70-year-old woman tragically passed away following her ride on a rollercoaster at a theme park.
The incident occurred on the Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster at Universal Orlando in Florida. The woman was discovered unresponsive after the ride came to a stop. Despite being promptly taken to the hospital on November 25, she could not be revived. The exact cause of her death was not disclosed in the released records. However, during the period from October to December, the park reported eight other incidents of injuries or medical issues, including complaints of chest pains, sickness, and back pains.
The report did not provide specific details about the circumstances surrounding the incident. It mentioned that the data collected was based on initial reports, and no updates on the patrons’ conditions were received due to privacy concerns.
The Revenge of the Mummy ride, known for reaching speeds of up to 45 mph and featuring sudden stops, backward movements, and a 39-foot drop, is mostly set in a dark environment to intensify the thrill factor.
Since its opening in 2004, the ride has been associated with multiple injuries, totaling 21 incidents. Universal, the park’s spokesperson, refrained from commenting on any pending claims related to the ride.
Authorities like the Orlando Police Department stated that no death investigation had been initiated, while the Orlando Fire Department had no immediate information on the incident.
In a separate incident, a teenager was injured at a theme park last year when he fell from a 360-degree swing ride at its peak height. The 13-year-old suffered a leg and two finger fractures upon hitting the ground after coming out of his seat during the ride’s swing motion. Witnesses observed the boy clinging to the ride before falling.
The teenager fell approximately one-and-a-half to two meters, resulting in three broken bones. He was swiftly transported to a hospital for treatment following the incident at Jatim Park in Indonesia.
