His times of 56.21 and 55.88 in the first two heats summed up to 1:52.09 before the second day. He continued his impressive performance with a time of 55.63 in the third heat.
The highlight came in Weston’s final run with a record-breaking time of 55.61, leading to an emotional victory celebration alongside teammate Marcus Wyatt and Team GB coaches. This triumph marked a significant comeback for Weston, who had finished 15th in the previous Winter Olympics. Wyatt, on the other hand, improved his performance but settled for seventh place with a total time of 3:45.77.
Expressing his emotions after the win, Weston said, “This means everything to me. I have put in immense effort for this moment, and I am grateful to everyone who supported me along the way.” Team GB secured its place on the Winter Olympics medal table with Weston’s achievement, while German athletes Axel Jungk and Christopher Grotheer secured silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Commenting on Weston’s exceptional performance, Lizzie Yarnold praised his quick decision-making and physical endurance.
