Punters at the newly opened Wetherspoons pub in Spain may find themselves paying higher prices compared to their usual experiences at home. While the menu items and beverages remain reasonably priced, they generally exceed the costs at the chain’s regular high street locations.
Company officials explain that operating pubs in airports comes with higher expenses, justifying the elevated prices at the Spanish establishment, which are similar to those at Wetherspoons’ outlets in airports and train stations across the UK.
For instance, a substantial breakfast at the Spanish pub costs 10.25 euros (£8.84), whereas the average price in the UK is £5.09.
To assess the price differences, a comparison was made between the Alicante pub and Wetherspoons’ Solihull pub in the West Midlands, as well as Gatwick Airport. It is worth noting that some products vary in terms of portion sizes and ingredients.
