“Pine Marten Surprise: Maintenance Worker’s Wild Encounter”

Date:

Chad Dupuis, a resident of Slave Lake, Alberta, and a maintenance supervisor at Carson Pegasus Provincial Park since 2017, shared a recent wildlife encounter. While finishing up park duties on a busy Sunday, preparing campsites for new visitors, he looked forward to a barbecue dinner that was suddenly missing upon entering his camper. Initially suspecting a local black bear, Chad discovered a chewed screen as the entry point for the sneaky culprit, a pine marten. Startled by a growl from under his bed, Chad cautiously coaxed the marten out of the camper, watching it retreat up a tree. Relieved yet amused by the unexpected visitor, Chad resigned to a different dinner plan, contemplating the wild unpredictability of forest residents. The quirky incident added a memorable tale to share with his colleagues, highlighting the importance of respecting wildlife in their natural habitat.
