The country’s 90 million citizens woke up to discover internet access blocked and phone lines disconnected following a series of protests that provoked a harsh response from authorities.
Witnesses reported overcrowded hospitals due to the influx of casualties after protests unfolded in Tehran and Mashhad, with additional demonstrations captured in videos on Monday morning.
Iran’s main opposition group, MEK, stated that the death toll from the 16-day protests has surpassed 3,000, condemning the government’s actions as a severe violation of human rights.
Meanwhile, Downing Street downplayed the possibility of labeling Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, citing former MI6 chief Sir Richard Moore’s cautionary remarks on the matter.

Although conservative estimates place the number of protester casualties around 600, opposition factions within Iran claim the death toll to be as high as 3,000 individuals.
Amid efforts to restore order, Iranian authorities organized mass rallies across the nation, with a dummy of Donald Trump appearing at one event. Anti-regime demonstrators in various cities globally continue to voice their dissent.
Authorities in Tehran issued a warning message to the public advising families to protect their youth and teenagers given the ongoing unrest. Additionally, billboards in Tehran depicted coffins draped in American and Israeli flags, further reflecting the heightened tensions in the region.
