Aldi customers are excited about a new twist on the famous Dubai-style chocolate, now available in a spreadable form. The exceptionally popular chocolate bar, which gained viral fame in 2023, features a pistachio-tahini cream and kadayif, a chopped filo pastry, filling enveloped in milk chocolate.
The texture of the creamy filling ranges from finely ground to a paste. There are conflicting reports on its origin, with Fix Dessert Chocolatier’s version being the initial one to go viral, although Nouel Catis Omamalin, a Filipino chef, and Sarah Hamouda, a British-Egyptian engineer, claim to have created the recipe in 2021.
This high demand has led to the introduction of similar products by renowned companies like Lindt, Marks and Spencer, Lidl, and others. Aldi has also joined the trend, offering its take on the chocolate bar, along with new items such as its £1.99 ice cream and now, its Dubai-style spread under its in-house label, Dairyfine.
Dairyfine is well-liked for its wide selection of budget-friendly chocolate bars, snacks, and treats, including Dairyfine Giant Buttons, Titan bars, and Mini Eggs.
The Dubai-style pistachio chocolate spread is the latest addition catering to fans looking for an affordable way to enjoy the popular flavors that have gained online fame.
TikTok user Ell spotted numerous jars of the new product in her local store and shared a brief video on the platform. The video quickly garnered over 842,000 views and numerous comments from eager shoppers wanting to try the spread.
In the video caption, Ell simply wrote: “New Dubai chocolate spread in Aldi.. sounds so good”.
The official Aldi TikTok account responded: “Before anyone asks, yes you can just eat it with a spoon”.
Ell replied, “The best way”.
One TikTok user mentioned: “It’s so good and it’s £3.99”.
Another inquired: “Does it have the crunchy bits” to which Ell confirmed: “Yesss”.
A third confessed: “I have eaten a whole jar of that lol it’s so good”.
Another person shared: “Currently eating this with a spoon”.
Another added: “It’s SO good”.
However, some shoppers expressed disappointment that the product is not available in their local stores, particularly in the US, where they feel they are missing out on many of Aldi’s Dubai-chocolate inspired products.
One individual stated: “America needs to get with [it] already”.
Another commented: “Why is the Aldi in the UK always better than the US. PLS BRING THIS TO THE US”.
A third person remarked: “The US NEEDS this asap! Please Aldi”.
Another mentioned: “Never in the US [shaking my head]”.
But one person offered a different viewpoint and joked: “Good thing this isn’t in the USA otherwise they’d be sold out [nationally] and internationally”.
Another dissatisfied customer lamented: “We don’t have the Dubai chocolate ice cream either”.
