“Taylor Swift’s Music Removed from Trump Campaign Videos”

Date:

Some of Taylor Swift’s music has been taken down from online videos shared by U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign and the White House, which have featured two of the singer’s tracks in the past week. Both the White House and a representative for Swift have not yet responded to requests for comments.

Although Swift has not directly addressed Trump recently, she did endorse his Democratic opponent, then Vice-President Kamala Harris, in 2024. During the 2020 election, Swift made it clear on social media that she did not support Trump as president.

Conversely, Trump has been vocal in his criticism of Swift. Following her endorsement of Harris, he expressed his dislike for Swift on social media. He also made remarks suggesting her popularity had waned since he publicly stated his distaste for her.

Numerous artists, including Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have also requested that the Trump administration refrain from using their music.

On the Trump campaign’s TikTok page, Swift’s songs were featured in videos over the past week. One video played on her lyrics with a caption referencing popular songs by Swift, such as “Red (Donald Trump’s Version).”

In a June video posted by Trump’s campaign on TikTok, Swift’s new song “I Knew It, I Knew You” was played, accompanied by a caption praising President Donald J Trump’s love for the country and its people. This was the third time in recent months that a song by the Grammy Award-winning artist had been used by the Trump administration or his campaign.

In April, the White House shared a video featuring Artemis II’s crew meeting with Trump, set to Swift’s “High Infidelity” and lyrics from the song. Another TikTok video shared in November showcased “The Fate of Ophelia” from Swift’s album “The Life of a Showgirl,” featuring images of the U.S. flag, monuments, and various pictures of Trump.

The posts generated significant social media buzz, with a White House spokesperson explaining that the videos were strategically created to attract media attention. Trump’s communication team, known for its active social media presence, has shared multiple videos featuring popular songs along with visuals of Trump’s policies and events.
