Police in Mexico were shocked to find dismembered remains of three men inside six plastic bags dumped at a commercial complex in the Acapulco Diamante region of Guerrero state. The discovery was made after receiving reports and tips from the Playa Dinamita area on January 9. The bags, containing heads and limbs of the victims, were confirmed by investigators at the scene around 9 pm.
The bodies were transported to a morgue in El Quemado, but authorities have not yet identified any of the victims. This incident is not the first of its kind in Guerrero, as similar cases have been reported in the past. In April 2025, federal investigators were called to Acapulco after plastic bags with remains of a single victim were found.
According to sources, a threatening note was discovered near the body, suggesting possible involvement of a criminal group that remains unidentified. In a separate incident, the bodies of 11 murdered victims were found in the Tecoanapa municipality following clashes between rival gangs.
Previous decapitations have been linked to the “La Barredora” gang, known to operate in Guerrero. One note, seemingly from the group, was found at a crime scene involving six severed heads in August of the previous year. The motive behind these brutal killings remains unclear.
Guerrero has a high rate of homicides, with a significant portion linked to drug trafficking. Due to safety concerns, the foreign office advises against non-essential travel to the state. In 2024, violence in Guerrero escalated to the point where Catholic bishops intervened to facilitate a truce between rival cartels.
