An individual with malevolent intentions abducted and killed an eight-year-old child, then dismembered the body and stored the child’s feet in the freezer. Levi Aron, the perpetrator, passed away in prison last month, coinciding with the 15th anniversary of his heinous act.
The tragic incident unfolded when the boy, Leiby Kletzky, was allowed to walk home unaccompanied for the first time. Straying from his intended route and seeking directions from Aron led to a series of unfortunate events.
The grim details of this case resurfaced following Aron’s demise. Leiby was on his way home from a religious camp in Borough Park, Brooklyn, on July 11, 2011. Despite plans for his mother to meet him halfway, he encountered Aron after becoming lost.
Aron later admitted to taking the child to a wedding before discovering the search efforts for the missing boy. Subsequently, he confessed to drugging and suffocating Leiby out of panic, followed by dismembering the body and concealing the remains.
Aron was apprehended after authorities noticed suspicious activity in his residence, leading to the gruesome discovery of evidence linking him to the crime. He confessed to the location of the boy’s remains, which were found in a nearby dumpster.
Following his arrest, Aron confessed to the kidnapping and murder of Leiby, a member of the Hasidic Borough Park community. He was sentenced to 40 years to life imprisonment, and after nearly 15 years behind bars, he passed away at the age of 49 due to a medical issue.
Aron’s family, who faced threats following the murder, requested an autopsy after his death. The victim’s father described the loss of his son as a senseless and malicious act, refraining from commenting on Aron’s demise.
