A tragic incident occurred at a wedding reception in Pakistan where a gas cylinder explosion resulted in the loss of at least eight lives, including the bride and groom. The reception was being held at a residence in Islamabad, the capital city, leading to a portion of the building collapsing and leaving seven others injured.
The explosion took place within a residential area in the city center, prompting a thorough investigation by the authorities into its cause. Deputy Commissioner General Sahibzada Yousaf confirmed that the rescue operation had been successfully completed, ensuring no individuals were left trapped under the debris. Sniffer dogs were deployed during the search and recovery process to locate all victims.
According to Yousaf, three houses were completely destroyed, and a fourth sustained partial damage. Inspection of neighboring structures was underway to mitigate any further risks. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed sorrow over the tragic deaths and extended condolences to the families of the victims. He instructed healthcare providers to offer the best possible care to the injured and ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the incident. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also offered his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families.
