“Farage Urges Apology for Comments on Lammy’s Background”

Date:

Nigel Farage has urged a Reform candidate to apologize for suggesting that David Lammy should return to the Caribbean. Dr. Chris Parry, a former Royal Navy Rear Admiral, has faced criticism for making comments questioning the loyalty of politicians from minority backgrounds and proposing that converts to Christianity should consume bacon.

Farage, while acknowledging Parry’s patriotism and service to the country, emphasized that the remarks about Lammy were excessive and called for an apology. Parry’s scrutiny extended to other figures, including Shabana Mahmood, Sadiq Khan, Humza Yousaf, Zarah Sultana, and Anas Sarwar, questioning their primary allegiance to the UK.

Recent social media posts by Parry scrutinizing the loyalty of certain individuals based on their backgrounds have sparked controversy. Labour chairwoman Anna Turley has called for Parry’s expulsion from the party, denouncing the division propagated by Farage.

In a statement, Parry defended his remarks as light-hearted banter, expressing concerns about the secularization of the country and emphasizing the need for thorough assessment of asylum claims based on religious grounds. He suggested that those sensitive to such discussions should avoid social media for mental well-being.
