Ferrari President Criticizes F1 Drivers; Endurance Team Triumphs

Date:

Italian automaker Ferrari’s president, John Elkann, criticized Formula 1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc after a disappointing Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Elkann advised the drivers to focus on their driving rather than talking, as both failed to score any points in the race and retired due to damage.

Meanwhile, Ferrari’s World Endurance Championship team triumphed at the Eight Hours of Bahrain, with Alessandro Pier Guidi, Antonio Giovinazzi, and James Calado securing the drivers’ title. Ferrari also dominated the manufacturers’ standings, finishing 74 points ahead.

The Formula 1 season has been challenging for Ferrari, particularly for Hamilton, who struggled to adapt. Despite some successes, including a Sprint race win in Shanghai, the overall performance has been lackluster.

The issues at Scuderia Ferrari seem deep-rooted, evident from Leclerc’s inability to secure a Grand Prix victory despite minimal errors this season.

Elkann, who was present at the Bahrain event, expressed disappointment over Ferrari’s performance this season. He emphasized the importance of unity within the team and urged the drivers to focus more on driving and less on talking.

Currently ranked fourth in the constructors’ championship, Ferrari is yet to claim a Grand Prix victory in 2025, trailing behind Mercedes and Red Bull. Hamilton, who faced challenges in Sao Paulo, expressed determination to bounce back in the upcoming races.

Leclerc acknowledged the team’s struggle for second place in the championship and emphasized the need for perfect execution in the remaining races to improve their position.
