Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK that offer internet-connected cameras and cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. These plans provide an affordable alternative to popular home security devices like Ring doorbells and Google’s Nest system.
The first plan, priced at £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee, includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime. It offers features such as full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customisable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking additional security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized that these new plans aim to make high-quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly. The company’s goal is to simplify home security while keeping it affordable for consumers.
Sky’s expansion into standalone smart home services marks a shift from their previous focus on bundled offerings like Protect Smart Home Insurance, which included cameras and alarms. This move allows customers to purchase Sky Smart Home products independently for the first time.
In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, with an additional cost for cloud recording access through a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month. Sky’s new plans offer competitive pricing and a range of features for consumers looking to enhance their home security setup.
