A zookeeper tragically captured his final moments on camera before being attacked and devoured by a pack of lions. The man was attempting to retrieve three escaped animals from a courtyard at a private zoo called the Lion Park in Parkent, Uzbekistan, in a bid to impress his girlfriend when the lions turned on him.
The keeper, identified as F. Iriskulov, 44, was seen on video unlocking a padlock at the zoo during his night shift. The footage, recorded in 2024, shows the lions initially appearing calm as he approached them. However, the situation quickly escalated as the lions suddenly became agitated and started pacing around him.
In a chilling turn of events, one of the lions bit down on the man’s arm, causing him to cry out in pain before the camera fell to the ground. Despite his cries for quiet, the attack continued until the man’s remains were discovered in the cage the next morning, with two lions tranquilized and one shot dead by zoo staff.
This incident echoes a similar tragedy where another zookeeper was fatally attacked by lions in front of horrified tourists at Safari World in Bangkok, Thailand. Witness accounts described how the lions ambushed the keeper as he exited his vehicle in an open enclosure, leading to his untimely demise.
The ordeal only ended when zoo officials intervened with firearms, forcing the lions to retreat. However, their swift action could not save the keeper, who had already succumbed to the brutal attack. Such incidents serve as stark reminders of the dangers faced by those working closely with wild animals in captivity.
