Environment Canada has rescinded a yellow alert for severe weather following a storm that swept through parts of southern Alberta on Tuesday evening. The agency cautioned about potential damaging wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain as the storm made its way from Claresholm towards areas near Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. The initial warning, issued earlier on Tuesday afternoon, highlighted the threat of a dangerous thunderstorm capable of generating baseball-sized hail and causing destruction to buildings and trees.
Despite the lifting of the alert, a yellow watch for severe thunderstorms remained in place for a significant portion of the region stretching from Claresholm eastward to Hays and south to the U.S. border as of Tuesday night.
