“Wizz Air Expands to Chania: New Routes from London Luton”

Date:

Travelling to a European island destination with pleasant winter climate and a remarkable historic center is set to become easier. Wizz Air has announced the introduction of six new routes from London Luton Airport, one of which is to Chania in Crete, with one-way fares starting at £44.99.

Chania, located on the northwest coast of the Greek island, is famous for its 14th-century Venetian harbor, labyrinthine streets, and waterfront dining spots. The harbor features a 16th-century lighthouse that reflects Venetian, Egyptian, and Ottoman architectural styles.

Unlike the UK, Chania is expected to reach temperatures as high as 19C this and next week. Writer Brian Dillon, who recently visited Chania, was enchanted by the city’s allure. He praised the city’s weather during his September trip, noting the abundance of sunshine and temperatures in the high 20s.

Compared to popular Spanish destinations like Gran Canaria and Mallorca, Chania offered Brian a more authentic experience. The city’s unique Greek charm, especially evident in its cuisine, left a lasting impression on him.

Brian was particularly impressed by the gastronomic delights of Chania, describing the dining experience as unforgettable. From delectable sea bass to traditional Greek dishes, the culinary scene in Chania exceeded his expectations, offering a blend of tourist-friendly activities and authentic Greek charm.

Starting next spring, Wizz Air will offer flights to Chania and four other Greek destinations – Mykonos, Rhodes, and Zakynthos – from London Luton Airport. Additionally, the airline will introduce routes to Bordeaux and Dortmund in Europe.

Flights to Mykonos will operate three times a week, while the other Greek destinations will have flights twice a week. The new routes to Greece are scheduled to begin on May 13, 2026, just in time for the summer season, with ticket prices starting at £44.99*.

These new routes mark Wizz Air’s expansion at London Luton Airport, where the airline now serves 60 destinations. Yvonne Moynihan, managing director at Wizz Air UK, expressed excitement about the new routes, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to making dream holidays affordable and accessible for travelers.
