“Wife-Killer Found Dead in Prison Cell”

Date:

A man who brutally killed his wife shortly after their marriage has been discovered dead in a prison cell.

Jared James Dicus, 24, confessed to the murder of his wife, Anggy Diaz, 21, in a swift trial in 2024. He received a 40-year prison sentence, becoming eligible for parole in 2043.

Dicus and Anggy tied the knot in October 2022, despite concerns from friends who had observed issues in their relationship. In January of the following year, Anggy’s mutilated body was found in their home shower, accompanied by a knife used in her decapitation.

Dicus was found deceased by hanging in his cell at the Wainwright Unit in Houston County, Texas. Despite efforts from prison staff to revive him, emergency medical services declared him dead before 11 pm.

The discovery of Anggy’s remains was made by Dicus’s father at their shared property, who promptly alerted the authorities. The Waller County Sheriff’s Office detailed the frantic call made by Dicus’s parents on January 11, 2023, reporting a possible death at their location.

Police responding to the call uncovered the gruesome crime scene in a cabin on the property, with blood splattered throughout. Anggy was found with stab wounds near the bed, and her severed head was located in the shower.

Prior to his arrest, Dicus was captured on surveillance footage stealing and consuming beer from a local market where Anggy worked, shortly after the murder.

A close friend of Anggy revealed that Dicus displayed signs of insecurity about their marriage, posting possessive messages on social media. The friend recalled a Christmas party where Dicus abruptly left, appearing visibly upset, while others enjoyed the event.

Speculation arose over Anggy potentially experiencing domestic violence, despite her silence on any relationship issues. The Waller County Sheriff acknowledged prior disturbance calls related to the couple but noted that the severity of Anggy’s murder was unprecedented.

Anggy had dreams of starting a family, although friends advised her against rushing into pregnancy post-marriage. Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention highlighted the prevalence of intimate partner violence leading to fatalities, particularly affecting female victims.
