“Widow’s Bay” Dominates 78th Emmy Awards, “The Pitt” Wins Outstanding Drama

The 78th Emmy Awards were held on September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, featuring a blue carpet in honor of the 100th anniversary of NBC. Hosted by Mariska Hargitay, the event recognized outstanding achievements in television, with “Widow’s Bay” winning big with a record-breaking 14 Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series and acting accolades for Matthew Rhys, Stephen Root, and Kate O’Flynn.

“The Pitt” secured the title of Outstanding Drama Series for the second consecutive year, while “DTF St. Louis” claimed the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series award. Noteworthy wins included Noah Wyle for lead actor in a drama, Rhea Seehorn for lead actress in a drama, and Jean Smart for lead actress in a comedy, marking her fifth consecutive win. Matthew Rhys also shined, winning lead actor in a limited series or movie.

The ceremony featured a tribute to Dolly Parton by Reba McEntire, a performance of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Noah Kahan, and reunions of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Charlie’s Angels” casts. Alongside the awards, the fashion on the blue carpet stole the show with standout looks.

Key appearances included Supriya Ganesh in a pale blue McQueen gown, Matty Matheson in a brown-and-black tuxedo, Lisa Rinna in a black Lever Couture gown, and Grace Gummer in a black Dior dress. Joy Sunday dazzled in an off-white Dior gown, Noah Kahan rocked a sharp black Bode tuxedo, and Colman Domingo stood out in an orange Valentino jacket with a pink belt.

Lukita Maxwell stunned in a champagne-gold Louis Vuitton dress, Megan Stalter turned heads dressed as a golden Emmy statuette, and Cynthia Nixon looked elegant in a burgundy Issey Miyake gown. Alan Cumming impressed in an embellished suit, while Zendaya rocked a crystal-covered Prada gown. Selena Gomez sparkled in a gold Louis Vuitton gown, Nicole Kidman charmed in a white Chanel dress, and Florence Pugh wowed in a purple Vivienne Westwood gown.

Riz Ahmed made a statement in an oversized Loewe suit, Emilia Clarke was ethereal in a pink Prada gown, and Claire Danes looked chic in a silver Giorgio Armani dress. Sarah Pidgeon showcased a custom Chanel gown, and Dan Levy exuded style in a Celine tuxedo as he honored Catherine O’Hara during the broadcast.
