A significant number of applications and services require a monthly fee for access to their platforms, and it seems that WhatsApp may soon adopt this model. Recent observations by the vigilant team at WABetaInfo indicate that the chat application owned by Meta is in the process of introducing an upgrade known as WhatsApp Plus.
This upgrade is expected to provide users with exclusive enhancements and features, including the ability to pin up to 20 chats (up from the current limit of 3), enhanced customization options such as changing the app theme, app icon, and accent colors. Additionally, users may gain access to bonus stickers, extra ringtones, and more interactive reactions for chat replies.
WABetaInfo stated, “WhatsApp is working on a new optional premium subscription plan called ‘WhatsApp Plus’ for the standard consumer app, offering additional features in exchange for a monthly fee. This plan is currently in development for Android and iOS platforms and has not been officially released.”
In addition to the initial upgrades, Meta might introduce further features over time for users willing to pay for them. While WhatsApp has not yet confirmed these speculations, the existence of test versions of the Plus app discovered by WABetaInfo suggests ongoing development.
It is important to note that the free version of WhatsApp will remain available, and users will not be obligated to pay for the premium features. This optional subscription is designed to provide additional benefits to users who are willing to pay a monthly fee.
More information regarding WhatsApp Plus is anticipated to be disclosed soon. Stay tuned for updates.
