“Vodafone’s 5G Router Delivers Faster, Flexible Internet”

Date:

Vodafone has introduced a new method for internet access, utilizing a 5G mobile signal through its latest Wi-Fi router instead of traditional copper or fiber cables. This innovation caters to households without access to faster full fiber connections or those seeking greater flexibility, especially handy for renters or students who frequently move residences.

One key advantage of this new system is its easy installation process. As it operates on Vodafone’s network, there’s no need for technical visits or drilling holes in walls. Users can simply plug the device into a power source, power it on, and immediately connect to the internet.

However, it’s essential to note that this new system offers speeds of up to 150Mbps, which is sufficient for activities like streaming Netflix, sending emails, and working from home, but falls short compared to full fiber speeds that exceed 900Mbps. For instance, downloading a full HD movie with the 5G router would take approximately 8 minutes, significantly longer than the 40 seconds required with a fiber gigabit connection.

To assist consumers in making informed decisions, Vodafone is launching an integrated availability checker on their website. By entering their postcode, customers can determine whether full fiber or 5G Broadband offers the fastest speeds in their area.

Vodafone previously provided internet access via 5G through its GigaCube device, which has now been replaced by this new router. Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree, highlighted the benefits of Vodafone 5G Broadband, emphasizing the speed, affordability, and convenience it offers to households currently facing slow and unreliable internet services.

Additionally, Three, now part of Vodafone, offers a similar service. Vodafone’s plans start at £21 per month, while Three’s home broadband is priced at £11 for the initial nine months.
