“Virgin Media Upgrading Customers to Hub 5 for Better Wi-Fi Performance”

Date:

Virgin Media is set to upgrade some of its broadband customers to newer routers for improved performance. The company will be replacing older Hub 3 and Hub 4 devices with the latest Hub 5, featuring Wi-Fi 6 technology for faster and more reliable connections. Eligible customers will be notified via email throughout 2026 as the upgrades are rolled out gradually.

The Hub 5, equipped with seven internal antennas, promises stronger and more consistent Wi-Fi coverage. Virgin Media assures that selected customers using outdated routers will benefit from this upgrade. Customers are advised to wait for direct communication from Virgin Media or can check their eligibility through their My Virgin Media account online.

Upgrading to the Hub 5 can enhance broadband experiences by offering wider Wi-Fi coverage, better stability, and support for future updates. Additionally, the new router is designed to handle faster Gig1 speeds, enabling quicker downloads and streaming. Virgin Media highlights that Gig1 speeds can download a full HD movie in under 40 seconds, significantly faster than the UK average.

Wi-Fi 6, the latest wireless networking technology, boasts faster speeds, increased efficiency, and better performance in crowded environments. It can accommodate more connected devices simultaneously, delivers improved performance across different frequency bands, and is energy-efficient, making it suitable for modern smart homes. While Wi-Fi 7 is available, Wi-Fi 6 remains ideal for most users.
