“Trump Criticizes Epstein Files Release as Distraction”

Date:

US President Donald Trump criticized the recent release of Jeffrey Epstein files as “a terrible thing.” He defended individuals like Bill Clinton and others who were featured in the photos. The files included images of prominent figures such as Michael Jackson, Bill Clinton, Mick Jagger, and Lord Mandelson.

Despite being mentioned in the files, Trump argued that most of these celebrities had met Epstein innocently over the years. Epstein, a convicted child sex offender, had preyed on underage girls. Trump stated that the focus on Epstein was a distraction from the Republican Party’s achievements.

Trump expressed his positive relationship with Bill Clinton and suggested that innocent encounters with Epstein might have occurred years ago. He attributed the push for the files’ release to Congressional Democrats, acknowledging Epstein’s extensive connections in past decades.

The release of documents followed Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche’s commitment to unveiling more materials to protect Epstein’s victims. The US Department of Justice was required to disclose all investigation files related to Epstein under the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

Epstein, a convicted sex trafficker, died by suicide in a Manhattan jail in August 2019. The negligence of guards, who slept on duty and falsified records, compounded the tragedy, along with malfunctioning or broken cameras in the facility.
