“Teen Trio Sentenced for Homeless Man’s Murder”

Date:

Three teenagers have been sentenced to prison for the vicious killing of a homeless man who was struck with a gin bottle following a hit-and-run incident. Eymaiyah Lee Bradshaw-McKoy, aged 18, Mia Campos-Jorge, aged 19, and Jaidee Bingham, aged 18, assaulted Anthony Marks, aged 51, resulting in fatal brain bleeding that led to his death five weeks later. A jury reached a verdict after 47 hours and 47 minutes, convicting Bingham of murder at the Old Bailey on October 30.

While Bradshaw-McKoy and Campos-Jorge were acquitted of murder charges, they were found guilty of manslaughter. Despite missed opportunities to save the victim, the court found all three individuals responsible for his demise.

In sentencing, Judge Mark Dennis KC imposed a life term with a minimum of 16 years for Bingham, while Bradshaw-McKoy received a sentence of three years and 11 months, and Campos-Jorge was given three years and six months.

Detective Inspector Jim Barry of the Met’s Specialist Crime North, who led the investigation, described the incident as a horrific murder revealing the brutal nature of county lines gangs. He emphasized that the ages of the perpetrators were particularly troubling, highlighting that being teenagers did not excuse their violent involvement in a drug line that instilled fear and intimidation in London’s streets.

The Metropolitan Police shared that Mr. Marks had been assaulted with a car bonnet, then pursued, stomped on, and beaten with a gin bottle in a brutal retribution attack associated with county lines activities.

Staff at King’s Cross station discovered Mr. Marks with severe facial injuries and blood pouring from his head around 5:25 am on August 10, 2024. Emergency services rushed him to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, where a CT scan revealed brain bleeding resulting from the violent assault, compounded by a pre-existing injury.

During a police interview, Mr. Marks recounted an altercation with a drug dealer named Ghost, leading to the attack by Bingham, Bradshaw-McKoy, and Campos-Jorge. The motive behind the assault was believed to be retaliation for violence suffered by one of the girls during drug deliveries.

Following the attack, Mr. Marks was discharged from the hospital and returned to prison. However, he experienced worsening symptoms, leading to a seizure on August 29, 2024, prompting emergency surgery to address a blood clot at King’s College Hospital. Unfortunately, he passed away on September 14 after medical personnel decided to withdraw care due to the severity of his injuries.

The cause of death was determined to be brain bleeding resulting from the violent incident a month earlier.
