Hundreds of households in Surrey may receive complimentary supermarket vouchers valued at £300 to assist with the rising cost of living. The initiative, part of the Household Support Fund administered by Surrey County Council, aims to aid vulnerable families by providing financial support.
Residents of Surrey County Council can access the assistance through the Everyday Essentials E-Voucher scheme if they are facing challenges in affording food and basic necessities. These vouchers are redeemable at various supermarkets such as Aldi, Asda, Farmfoods, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Waitrose.
To qualify for the scheme, individuals must be over 18 years old, residing in Surrey, have household savings not exceeding £2,000 over a 90-day period, and possess an annual household income below £27,007.50 before taxes and deductions.
Applicants are required to disclose income details and any household benefits received. Voucher applications open monthly, with the next round commencing on February 3. If the current month’s application window is missed, reapplication is possible from March 2.
Those outside Surrey facing financial difficulties are advised to inquire with their local council for available support options. Notably, Nottingham City Council is offering £100 vouchers to low-income individuals or benefit recipients. The council is in the process of distributing the vouchers, with completion expected by February 28, 2026.
Additionally, Wakefield Council is distributing food vouchers to low-income households receiving council tax aid. Pensioners receiving Council Tax Support were granted a £70 voucher in November, with more vouchers scheduled for other households.
Blackpool Council is providing energy assistance, with eligible households of one or two individuals, including children, receiving £200, while households of three or more individuals, including children, are eligible for £300.
Claimants must demonstrate financial hardship and bill payment struggles to access the support, requiring the submission of recent bank statements for all household members.
