A young student, Ferdinand Du Beaudiez, recounted his brave actions during a tragic incident at the Le Constellation bar where a fire broke out on New Year’s Eve. Ferdinand, a 19-year-old studying finance and economics at Munich University, was inside the bar with loved ones when the fire started. He described witnessing the fire spreading rapidly, attempting to extinguish it with water, and ultimately facing a chaotic and dangerous situation reminiscent of a war zone.
Despite the escalating danger, Ferdinand courageously went back inside the burning bar multiple times to rescue individuals. He recounted finding severely injured people, including one who was unrecognizable due to burns. Ferdinand also shared how he assisted emergency responders in providing aid to the injured outside the bar.
The tragic incident at the Swiss ski resort led to around 40 fatalities and 115 injuries during the New Year celebration. Swiss authorities are investigating the cause of the fire that swept through the crowded bar, causing significant harm to those inside.
Ferdinand expressed concern for his brother, who is in a coma following the incident, and provided updates on the condition of his other friends who are recovering. He described the chaotic scenes outside the bar where emergency services triaged and treated the injured.
Mourners have paid tribute to the victims with candles and flowers near the Constellation bar, while others gathered at a local church to pray for those affected by the tragedy. The community has come together to support each other during this difficult time.
