Skiing Icon Lindsey Vonn Suffers Serious Crash

Date:

American skiing icon Lindsey Vonn experienced a serious crash during the Winter Olympics downhill event. Vonn, 41, was competing for Team USA despite a prior ACL injury before the Milan Cortina Games.

The former gold medalist had high hopes for victory in the event following her knee replacement in 2024. However, her Olympic aspirations took a hit with a late January crash, although she persevered through mandatory training runs.

During the women’s downhill skiing final, Vonn lay motionless on the slopes and was subsequently airlifted to the hospital, eliciting an emotional response from the BBC broadcast team.

Commentator Chemmy Alcott expressed deep emotion, reflecting on Vonn’s unfortunate situation at the side of the slope. The challenging course and Vonn’s determination despite her knee issues added to the heartbreaking scene witnessed by viewers worldwide.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games will be ongoing until February 22, offering over 850 hours of live action on discovery+ via Prime Video. Fans can subscribe to a £3.99 discovery+ Entertainment plan for access to continuous Olympic coverage on TNT Sports 2.
