Samsung has revealed its latest lineup of innovative foldable smartphones, potentially posing a challenge for Apple. The tech giant from Korea has introduced three new devices, led by the redesigned Galaxy Z Fold 8, featuring a unique “passport-style” design different from previous Fold models.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 boasts a wide 7.6-inch display resembling a compact tablet, offering an enhanced experience for activities like streaming, binge-watching, and gaming on the move. This launch is crucial as Apple is anticipated to launch its first foldable iPhone soon, with rumors hinting at a similar design choice. Samsung seems to have taken the lead in this regard.
In addition to the design, Samsung is advancing in other areas with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 being the thinnest and lightest Fold to date, weighing just 180g. The device features an improved hinge for durability, a larger display with Vision Booster technology and anti-reflective coating, and Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The device also offers a dual-camera system, Gorilla Glass protection, and the latest Galaxy AI tools.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is priced at £1,699 and is now available for pre-order, contrasting with Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone expected later at a higher cost. Alongside the Fold 8, Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which showcases notable upgrades in camera technology and design enhancements for improved user experience. The device starts at £1,899 and promises advanced photography capabilities and smoother folding mechanics.
Completing the lineup is the Galaxy Z Flip 8, maintaining Samsung’s popular clamshell design while being thinner and lighter. The device offers enhancements in performance, camera features, and display improvements. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 starts at £1,149, providing users with a sleek and functional foldable option.
