Prince Harry’s former partner, Catherine Ommanney, has refuted allegations that she departed a hotel in Majorica without settling her bill, attributing the issue to a “technical error.”
Ommanney, aged 53, was apprehended on suspicion of fraud following claims by the management at the three-star Playas del Rey Hotel that she had not paid her nearly £450 bill. During her nine-day stay, Ommanney accrued a charge of €500 (£434) and purportedly provided a credit card with insufficient funds, as per investigators.
Despite the accusations of non-payment, Ommanney dismissed the claims as untrue, stating, “The bill was settled. I have evidence of full payment. It was a technical mistake on the hotel’s part, and I intend to seek redress through the justice system.”
Speaking to the local publication Majorca Daily Bulletin, Ommanney described Sunday as a “nightmarish day,” attributing the incident to a clerical error. She clarified that the bill was settled via a bank transfer since the hotel did not accept credit cards. Ommanney expressed her displeasure at being detained, referring to it as the worst day of her life.

Following her release on bail pending further investigation, it remains uncertain whether Ommanney testified in court to clarify the circumstances. When contacted for a statement, her legal representative disclosed that they had not reviewed the media reports about her arrest and would refrain from commenting without her approval.
The Playas del Rey Hotel in Santa Ponsa declined to provide comments when approached, stating that there was no one available to speak to the press. Ommanney made no initial statement post-release, and the location of her arrest remains undisclosed.
An interior designer known for her appearance on the Real Housewives of DC, Ommanney disclosed to the Sun in 2022 about a brief encounter with the Duke of Sussex in 2006 at an Art Bar in Chelsea. At the time, she was a 34-year-old mother of two, while Harry was 21. The alleged relationship was never confirmed or addressed by Harry.
Reflecting on their interaction, Ommanney remarked, “I believe he appreciated my company due to my maturity and wisdom compared to the younger individuals around him. He seemed to seek a deeper connection and found me appealing for that reason. The age gap was irrelevant to me.”
