Pregnant Music Teacher Arrested for Child Offenses

Date:

A 33-year-old pregnant music teacher, Naomi Tekea Craig, has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses involving a child under 16. The charges include sexual penetration of a child over 13 and under 16, possession of child exploitation material, and persistent sexual conduct with a child under 16. These alleged incidents took place between 2024 and 2025.

Craig, who was working as a music teacher at Fredrick Irwin Anglican School, has been a well-liked figure among both parents and students at the school. Following her arrest, the school’s principal, Tracey Gray, informed parents through a letter that the teacher had been apprehended and instructed not to attend the school.

Authorities are currently investigating the incidents that occurred in Mandurah, near Perth, Western Australia. The school assured parents that there is no cause for concern regarding other students’ safety. The police emphasized their commitment to protecting children and providing support to victims, with Craig scheduled to appear in court on January 27.

At Fredrick Irwin Anglican School, a music program is mandatory for all eighth-grade students, with fees amounting to $8,320 (£4,153) per year for older students. Reports indicate that Craig, who is married, was on maternity leave at the time of her arrest.

A former schoolmate described Craig as a fantastic music teacher and a friendly individual, expressing shock at the news.
