Authorities in Columbia, Missouri, have apprehended three 18-year-olds and a male juvenile, charging them with murder in connection to the incident. Burke was reportedly shot inside his home and pronounced dead at a local hospital. Alexis Baumann, Kobe Aust, Joseph Crane, and the unnamed male juvenile face various charges including murder, robbery, burglary, and weapon-related offenses.
A close friend of Burke, Jerry Reifeiss, recounted the victim’s final moments in a poignant interview, likening his courage to that exhibited during his military service. Despite his critical condition, Burke managed to contact emergency services, provide details about the attackers, and send heartfelt messages to his mother and sister before succumbing to his injuries.
The Columbia Missouri Police Department confirmed that officers rendered aid to Burke until emergency medical services arrived, identifying him as Michael Ryan Burke of Columbia, who later passed away due to the shooting. The department has notified the next of kin.
