A man has been accused of murder in connection with an alleged stabbing that occurred on New Year’s Eve.
According to a statement released by Greater Manchester Police (GMP), Anthony Junior Murray, a 25-year-old individual residing on Tarn Drive in Bury, has been formally charged with murder and possession of a bladed weapon. Murray has been detained in custody and is scheduled to appear before Manchester Magistrates Court today.
The victim, identified as 24-year-old Joe Burton in court documents, tragically passed away at the scene. GMP has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
Current visuals from Tarn Drive display an active cordon on a section of the street. A forensic tent has been set up to gather photographic evidence.
Additionally, a woman in her twenties was taken into custody on suspicion of murder but has since been released on bail pending further investigation.
GMP is seeking information from the public regarding the incident and encourages individuals to reach out via phone at 101 or through the Live Chat option on the GMP website, referencing log 3529 dated 31.12.2025. The police department has specifically requested any available CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from the vicinity.
