Sailing through the tranquil waters of Scotland’s west coast and the Hebrides, The Majestic Line provides a unique cruising experience far removed from the massive ships commonly seen in European ports. The company operates a fleet of four small vessels, including purpose-built mini cruise ships and renovated fishing boats transformed into luxurious vessels for exploring the serene surroundings.
The latest addition to their fleet, the MV Glen Shiel, features seven cabins, offering passengers a selection of itineraries ranging from a six-night voyage exploring Mull and her Inlets and Islands to a 10-night Coastal Odyssey circling Cape Wrath, the most north-westerly point in Great Britain.
Cruising on the MV Glen Shiel means traveling with only 12 passengers. Launched in 2019, the ship underwent renovations in 2025 to enhance the luxury cruising experience. Due to its small size, the vessel can access remote locations inaccessible to larger ships and anchor in various spots.
The ship’s redesign was inspired by a “1930s gentleman’s motor yacht,” giving it an elegant and understated decor. Onboard amenities include a fully-stocked bar with a selection of whiskies and communal dining at a single table in the evening, fostering a sense of camaraderie among passengers. Pre-dinner al-fresco drinks and canapes offer a chance to enjoy the surrounding views.
Each of the seven cabins onboard can be configured as either a double or twin room and features an ensuite bathroom. The itineraries include stops at local towns and villages, allowing passengers to immerse themselves in the region’s rich culture.
With only four staff members on each ship—a skipper, chef, engineer, and steward—the service is personalized, ensuring guests receive individual attention. The cruise visits picturesque locations like Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, renowned for its colorful houses, and sails along the Torridon Mountains, providing breathtaking views of the ancient sandstone peaks.
Passengers on longer voyages have the opportunity to cruise around Cape Wrath, known for its pristine coasts teeming with wildlife, including puffin colonies. For more information, visit the Majestic Cruises website.
