A hospital is currently caring for a two-month-old infant after an incident on New Year’s Day.
Responding to reports of shouting, the police were summoned to an apartment in the Prince Rock area of Plymouth, where they later apprehended an individual.
Law enforcement discovered an injured child at the scene, who was then transported to Bristol Children’s Hospital. Police confirmed that the child’s injuries were not deemed life-threatening or critical.
Following the incident, an 18-year-old male was arrested by Devon and Cornwall Police and taken to Charles Cross police station before being released on bail.
A representative from Devon and Cornwall Police stated: “An assault investigation is underway regarding an incident in the Prince Rock area of Plymouth on January 1.
“Police were alerted to a disturbance and altercation involving a group of individuals shortly after midnight. They responded to Mainstone Avenue and Elliot Road, where they found a two-month-old infant with injuries. The child was then taken to Bristol Children’s Hospital, and her injuries were categorized as non-life-threatening or critical.
“An 18-year-old male from Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of assault, subsequently released on police bail.
“Investigations are ongoing to determine the full details surrounding this incident.”
