“Google Rolls Out Feature Allowing Gmail Users to Change Email Addresses”

Date:

Millions of Gmail users are in for a significant update as Google introduces the option to change email addresses. This feature allows users to modify their Google Account username, the part before @gmail.com, used for various services like Gmail, Photos, and Drive. The original email address will continue to function alongside the new one, ensuring no messages are missed by users.

Google assures that the update will not impact any saved data in accounts, such as photos, messages, and emails. While this change is a positive move by the tech giant, it is currently only available in the US, leaving users in the UK out of the loop for now.

For those residing in the US, Google advises visiting account settings, selecting personal info, then navigating to the email section to access the option to change the Google account email. Users can select a new and unique username, with the original address remaining as an alternate. It is important to note that only one new address can be created every 12 months. Users are encouraged to review their settings to check for the update availability.
