“Farage Under Fire for Inaction on Reform Candidate’s Racist Remarks”

Date:

Nigel Farage is facing criticism for not taking action against a senior Reform candidate accused of making “racist and unacceptable” remarks about politicians. Chris Parry, who had previously suggested that David Lammy should return to the Caribbean, also raised questions about the loyalty of eight other minority ethnic figures to the UK. These individuals included Shabana Mahmood, Sadiq Khan, Humza Yousaf, Zarah Sultana, and Anas Sarwar.

Despite calls for accountability over Parry’s comments, two of Farage’s key associates declined to condemn him. Labour chairwoman Anna Turley stated that Farage’s failure to act against Parry’s racist comments demonstrates a tolerance for racism within the party’s leadership.

An investigation into Parry’s social media activity revealed derogatory remarks towards Mahmood and Yousaf, questioning their loyalty. Parry also targeted Dawn Butler, Kaukab Stewart, and Naz Shah with inflammatory comments. Turley insisted that Farage should have expelled Parry from Reform UK earlier, emphasizing the party’s failure to uphold public expectations.

Farage’s deputy, Richard Tice, avoided denouncing Parry’s comments about Lammy, asserting that it falls within the realm of political discourse. Another Reform MP, Danny Kruger, deferred judgment to party leadership, praising Parry as a valuable supporter of Reform. The Mirror has reached out to Reform for a response.

During an interview on Talk TV, Parry stood by his remarks, urging people to review his social media posts for context. He reiterated his belief that as a country’s foreign secretary, loyalty to the nation is paramount. When asked about Lammy’s allegiance to the UK, Parry redirected the question back to Lammy.
