“easyJet Launches Liverpool to Naples Route for Pizza Lovers”

Date:

EasyJet has announced a new flight route from a UK airport to a popular culinary destination. Residents of Liverpool and surrounding areas will soon have the chance to fly to Naples with fares starting at £40.99. This addition expands easyJet’s network to 41 routes covering 17 countries in Europe and North Africa.

Naples is renowned as the birthplace of pizza, with the modern version of this beloved dish originating in the city. From its humble beginnings as a street food for the less privileged in the 1600s, pizza has evolved into a globally cherished culinary icon.

The art of Neapolitan pizza-making is designated as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. An international survey conducted in 2019 with 25,000 participants from 24 countries revealed the widespread popularity of Italian cuisine. Naples boasts numerous exceptional pizzerias waiting to be explored.

Prominent pizzerias like L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, established in 1870, offer a simple menu focusing on classic pizzas like Margherita and Marinara, prepared to perfection. Another renowned spot, Sorbillo, is praised for its light, airy dough and fresh, high-quality toppings.

After savoring authentic pizza, a quick 20-minute train ride can transport visitors to Pompeii for a memorable day trip. Frozen in time by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79, Pompeii showcases ancient life with preserved homes, streets, shops, temples, and even wall art.

Pompeii isn’t just a collection of ruins; it represents a fully preserved city with streets, villas, bakeries, amphitheaters, and more. The mild climate of Naples, averaging 15C even in colder months, makes it an attractive destination. In summer, temperatures can reach the mid-30s, offering ideal conditions for exploration.

Flights from Liverpool to Naples will operate twice a week starting from August 3, with bookings available on easyJet’s website and mobile app. In response to the new routes, easyJet plans to introduce an additional aircraft next summer, expanding its fleet to nine planes.

Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK country manager, expressed the company’s commitment to providing affordable travel options for UK customers. Robin Tudor, head of PR & Communications at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, highlighted the appeal of the new Naples route, emphasizing the region’s attractions including Pompeii and the birthplace of pizza.

With operations at 22 UK airports and over 630 routes connecting to 140 destinations, easyJet continues to expand its network across the UK, Europe, and beyond.
