Following the accident over a decade ago, Schumacher, now 56 years old, was placed in a medically induced coma, keeping his health condition private from the public eye. Hopkins, who had a close relationship with Schumacher during his time as an F1 driver, emphasized the importance of maintaining confidentiality regarding Schumacher’s health.
In a recent interview with SPORTbible via William Hill, Hopkins mentioned that he has not received recent updates on Schumacher’s health, noting that the family prefers to keep such details private. He expressed his belief that the public may not have the opportunity to see Schumacher again due to the family’s desire for privacy.
Acknowledging that he is not part of Schumacher’s inner circle like Jean Todt, Ross Brawn, or Gerhard Berger, who visit Schumacher, Hopkins highlighted the family’s wish to keep information about Schumacher restricted. Despite his past friendship with Schumacher dating back to the 1990s when he worked at McLaren and later at Red Bull, Hopkins emphasized the need to respect the family’s privacy regarding Schumacher’s health.
He explained that even if he had privileged information, he would not disclose it out of respect for the family’s wishes. Hopkins emphasized the importance of maintaining confidentiality and respecting the family’s desire to keep Schumacher’s health details private.
