Community Rallies for Injured Postman in Huddersfield

Date:

A postal worker sustained severe injuries and was promptly taken to the hospital after being struck by his own delivery van. The incident occurred in Crosland Moor, Huddersfield, where the driver, a man in his 50s, was hit by the Royal Mail vehicle. Fortunately, a Ford Ka driver intervened to prevent the van from continuing its unintended course down the hill.

Following the accident, the Crosland Moor Community Group initiated a fundraising campaign to gather £1,000 in support of the well-respected postman. Describing the incident as “shocking,” the community organizer highlighted the postman’s dedication to his job and the injuries he suffered, including fractured ribs, a punctured lung, and various cuts and bruises. Although the postman is now under medical care, a challenging recovery period lies ahead.

Recognizing the postman’s significance in the community, locals are rallying to assist him during this trying time. Additionally, three individuals near the scene acted swiftly to prevent further harm by preventing the van from rolling back, potentially causing more damage.

The fundraiser aims to aid the injured postman throughout his rehabilitation, offering financial and emotional support. Messages of encouragement have poured in from donors, praising the postman’s character and the heroes who intervened to avert a more serious tragedy.

The JustGiving fund, created for the postman, has garnered £245 from 16 contributors thus far. The community’s response demonstrates solidarity and care for one of their own in need.
