Co-op is gearing up to unveil 11 new stores this week, located from Bristol to the Scottish Highlights, including the first permanent retail space at the new Brent Cross Town development in London. The new stores comprise a mix of fresh outlets, franchise-operated shops, and revamped locations as part of the retailer’s initiative to enhance over 200 stores by 2024/25.
This announcement is part of Co-op’s plan to open 50 stores by November and December, just in time for the festive season. The company is urging the Government to reform business rates in the upcoming Budget.
Kate McCrae, Co-op Operations Director, expressed the company’s commitment to establishing local stores that are more than just places to shop but also serve as community hubs. She emphasized the importance of investing in local communities, creating jobs, and supporting local suppliers.
Additionally, Co-op introduced 200 new personalized offers, increased discounts, member games, and exclusive deals to its membership scheme. Shoppers are expected to save over £90 across October, November, and December with changing monthly prizes and reward mechanisms for in-store and online purchases.
