“Beware: Yellow Weather Warning for Icy Conditions”

Date:

The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings due to icy conditions that could lead to travel disruptions and increase the risk of slips, falls, and road accidents.

A yellow warning for ice is currently in effect from 4 pm today until midday tomorrow in various regions of Wales and South West England.

People are advised to take extra precautions while traveling by leaving home earlier than usual, using main roads and pavements that are less likely to be slippery, and avoiding rushing. Cyclists should stick to main roads whenever possible. The Met Office recommended planning to depart at least five minutes earlier than normal to reduce the risk of accidents, slips, and falls.

The warning coincides with multiple weather alerts across the UK, including snow and ice warnings for Scotland, Northern Ireland, the North East, and the East of England.

In Wales and the South West, sleet and snow showers are expected to cause disruptions on Saturday evening and overnight into Sunday morning. The Met Office warned that icy patches will form on untreated surfaces where showers occur.

Although most areas will see minimal snow accumulation, there is a possibility of several centimeters in specific regions such as Eryri, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, and potentially parts of Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor.
