Apple has officially unveiled its latest smartphone, the iPhone 17e, confirming earlier speculations. Following the iPhone 16e, this new model continues Apple’s trend of offering essential features at a more budget-friendly price point compared to its premium counterparts.
Priced at £599, the iPhone 17e is over £200 cheaper than the iPhone 17 and £500 less expensive than the 17 Pro. It now boasts a base storage of 256GB, double the capacity of its predecessor.
Equipped with the A19 chip for enhanced performance, the iPhone 17e surpasses the A18 processor in the 16e. It also features Apple’s C1X cellular modem, promising twice the speed of the previous C1 for faster downloads and smoother streaming on cellular networks.
The device sports a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with vibrant visuals and durable Ceramic Shield glass for protection against daily wear and tear. MagSafe technology, absent in the 16e, enables faster wireless charging and easy attachment of compatible accessories like wallets and stands.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the 48MP Fusion camera, offering advanced sensor capabilities for improved zooming and composition. The camera supports 4K video recording with Dolby Vision at up to 60 frames per second.
Safety features include Emergency SOS via satellite for communication in areas without cellular coverage and Crash Detection to automatically alert emergency services in case of a severe car accident.
Available in black, white, and a new soft pink finish, the iPhone 17e starts at £599. Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing, highlighted the device’s powerful performance, enhanced features, and exceptional value, positioning it as an attractive choice for customers seeking to upgrade within the iPhone 17 lineup.
